Training at Llyn Brenig 2010

Llyn Brenig Sailing Club is a Royal Yachting Association Recognised Training Establishment and training is run by Club volunteers who are RYA qualified instructors. Our volunteers teach and assist Club members who are new to the exciting sport of sailing and help those members who already sail but wish to improve their technique. The Club is certified to conduct RYA dinghy sailing courses (for adults and children) and powerboat courses (including safety boat) for Club members. The Club charges a very modest fee which includes your logbook and certificates. Training courses this year will include:

LEVEL 1 - Start Sailing (Adult, Two days)
(Stage 1 - Youth Scheme (Two days))

Learning to sail for the first time is great fun and a wonderful opportunity to learn new skills and visit new experiences. You won’t learn everything in two days but you’ll soon feel confident with the basic skills of rigging, launching and landing and will gain experience of tacking, gybing and sailing to windward. Depending on age and agility you’ll learn to sail on the Club’s Picos or Wayfarer, or in the Optimist for younger members. The course fee of £60 includes the cost of logbook and certificate. No pre-course experience is required and safety equipment is provided.

Level 2 - Basic Skills (Adult Two days)
(Stage 2 - Youth Scheme (Two days)

As soon as you have got to grips with basic skills in light winds you'll now want to move on and develop your practical boat-handling skills. This course carries on from the Level 1/Stage 2 course with information on boat preparation, balance, trim, bearing away, gybing and upwind technique. Students will be expected to be at
Level1/Stage 2 or equivalent sailing ability. The course fee of £60 includes the cost of logbook and certificate.
