1976 Llyn Brenig reservoir officially opened by Prince Charles
1977 Founding of Clwb Hwylio Llyn Brenig Sailing Club; sited up creek
1979 Reservoir full!
1981 Acquired 25 year lease for existing site
1983 Commenced work on Clubhouse Acquired first Challenger trimaran
1984 Single story Clubhouse built on existing site
1985 Construction of new Visitor Centre (Welsh Water)
1987 Mains water! Boathouse constructed. Granada TV series "Small World" featured Llyn Brenig
1990 Phase 1 of concrete Slipway. Surf Rescue provided by Lifeguard Ltd
1991 Phase 2 of concrete slipway. Construction of on site car park Optimist provided by Manweb plc
1992 No major difficulties with Rob Arnold
1993 Submitted Sports Development Plan and secured funding for training Instructors. Visit by Denbigh Rotary Club. Optimist provided by Welsh Water (now Hyder); matched by Sportsmatch (radios,etc)
1994 Grants received from the Sports Council for Wales and Colwyn Borough and Glyndwr District Councils Renegotiation of lease for 25 years. Construction of shell for Clubhouse extension; Mains electricity. Eight RYA qualified Instructors; Formal training courses. Sponsored sail for Delyn school
1995 Working parties! Fitting out of Clubhouse extension, stairs, etc.; Official opening. Foundation for Sports and the Arts Final grant payment from Glyndwr District Council provided 4m RIB and wheel chair lift
1996 First Welsh Open Challenger Competition (WOCC). Two dinghy and one power boat qualified Senior Instructors. SAS stayed briefly but found conditions too harsh
1998 Recognition as an RYA Training establishment. Llyn Aled members welcomed to the Club. Club featured in Sailability magazine for developing disabled sailing
1999 Renegotiation of lease for 25 years. Constitution revised. Pontoon built. Application for Sportslot grant to extend Club, new Pontoon, training fleet and safety boat. Grant also received by Conwy Borough Council.
2000 Clubhouse extended to include revamped changing facilities, new showers disabled facilities and extended ladies changing rooms. Car park extended. Purchase and installation of pontoon, Picos and Wayfarer training fleet, Safety boat and containers. Official opening by Gareth Thomas MP and representatives from the Sports Council for Wales and RYA.
