 Try Sailing Monday 26th May

After the pretty extreme sailing conditions in the early part of the season it was a relief to find broken cloud, sunshine and a modest breeze at Brenig for Try Sailing day – ideal conditions to get novices out on the water.

Visitors were already waiting to have a go when we started at 11am and by the time we closed the gate at 3pm 76 people had signed in and, including those having more than one go, we had got more than 100 people, ranging in age from four to eighty four, on to the water in a variety of boats including Picos (ably manned by junior members and the not so junior Alan Barnett), Wayfarers, Flying Fifteens, cruisers and a Drascomb.

All our visitors, and club members, had a good time with several expressing interest in joining the club (one signed up new member so far, but more to come with any luck) although the youngster who enjoyed the trip in the safety boat more than the sailing hadn’t perhaps quite got the message!

Many thanks to all club members who gave time and effort to make this a successful event.
