Galley News
The Galley continues to thrive and has just transferred £1000 to the
Treasurer. Many thanks to all those who have contributed either by doing a duty,
purchasing meals and snacks or making cakes that are so appreciated by club
members.
As I am approaching the end of my fourth year of Purchaser of Provisions, I
wish to hand over to a willing volunteer. If you would like to make a valuable
contribution to the club, and have a good eye for a bargain, please contact
the Commodore or Vice Commodore in the next few weeks.

Training 2001
This year's training programme was highly successful: six trainees achieved
their Level 2 sailing certificates and the junior trainees achieved four Stage
2 certificates and one Stage 3. And everyone seemed to have a good time. Training
is an excellent way to meet new members and for those new members to get to
know other new members and some of the veterans. Only one of the sailing trainees
failed to get a certificate and this was because of a broken foot - not broken
during sailing I should add. I will aim to assess this trainee later in the
year.
George was equally successful with his powerboat training, having run two courses over two weekends during June. In all eleven trainees benefited from the training and club members are now better trained for safety bjoat driving than ever.
Many thanks to all the instructors for giving up their time to help and for contributing to our success in putting more sailors on the water and, in the event of having a capsize, knowing that there will more proficient safety boat drivers.

Wanted-Old Photos
Have you got any photographs illustrating the history and development of the club over the past twenty five years? If you have could I borrow them as I'm planning to produce some collages of photographs to hang in the clubhouse?
Any photos which you lend me will be copied and returned to you unharmed so please dig through those old albums and envelopes to see what you can find.

Flying Fifteen Success
A Brenig Old Boy-Scott Train-has done well in the International Flying Fifteen World Championships held in Durban earlier this year, coming sixth in the Classic Fleet section.
I unfortunately was unable to make the dates due to prior commitments. Next year perhaps!
